Default those poor germans

they just can't get it together. on my way back from winstar tonight I was at 121 by grapvine mills mall. first in line at the light. next to me was an eclipse GT. behind me a 300ZX and 3 cars behind them.. bmw 3 series..

I know this because I came up through that line to be at the light.

the eclipse starts jumping on the line like she's waiting for that light to turn green. that 300 is on my ass close... light turns... I'm gone.. too bad.. sorry see ya.. at 80 in a blink of the eye.. looks like a cop ahead plus I just dumped about 4 gallons of gas right then. then they all come around.

well where 114 juts off north of the airport they kinda got stuck behind semis after I made an opening. so back on 121 south of 360 the BMW appears again.. only this time with 2 civics it's racing. I figure I can't leave this alone...

so there I go.. I drop the throttle and let loose all those horses and the ungodly torque... see yall.. all 3 of em couldn't manage to out accelerate me. they would move to go around me when I'd slow down to 90.. hit the throttle and they're back to my rear bumper again. where 121 merges with 183. he tried to go around me again.. on the inside lane.. I held the line and beat him ouf of the merge and changed lanes to the inside to make the exit to boot.

so tell me how it is that a german sports sedan with their wonderful handling and superb design can't out accelerate or out handle a truck? the civics.. well gee they're only putting maybe 170hp to the ground.. IF lucky... but I expected WAY more from the beemer

and the one I was hoping for didn't feel like playing.

What kind of 3 series was it and what year? You could get anything from a 130 hp 4 cyl 1.8L to a 3.2L 240hp M3. An E36 M3 would've roasted your truck, they are on par with the S2000 as far as acceleration from the factory.

Save the racing for the track. You give us all a bad name.

Give "us" a bad name? Only if "us" is driving a Z71 pickup.

But, I agree... leave the racing on the track... or, if you do it and feel obligated to post about it... post in the Street Encounters forum, where you'll find a more agreeable audience. Few people in this forum approve of street racing. Especially in a 3-ton truck.

the only time it was in front of me I didn't feel the need to turn on my fogs or brights to get a look at what specific model it was. I doubt it was the 170hp be he was the only one of the 3 that pretened to keep up.

someone used to always come over here and dog the S because of it's lack of torque and brag about how the Z4 was faster because of that reason? well let's try on 392ft/lb of torque.. match that with 335hp. plus a tranny set up for performance. I have to use 4wd if I'm using more than half throttle or else the torque will spin the rears all day long. shift on the fly is awsome!

and I don't think 100 is racing.
Regardless of what you think... you were racing, regardless of speed. That's the way a cop would see it, because that's the way it is. You were trying to out-accelerate another vehicle... which is pretty much the definition of racing. Do some F=ma calculations and see how much damage you could do with your "two and a half tons thank you" of Detroit steel & sheet metal.

Regardless of what is your driving style, you're not gonna get many 'props' in this forum for reckless driving and/or street racing. Like I said previously, if you're looking for approval, try the Street Encounters forum.

No kidding, 2.5 ton truck @ 100 mph...I wouldn't want to be hit by that.
