Another +1 on the SPT's, I had them on my 06 RSX Type-S and will be using them as my street tires on the S2000. I was very impressed with their wet and dry performance (plenty of grip during spirited driving), as I basically got them for free with a set of wheels that I bought and didn't know what to expect from them. When I saw the price, I was sold on them.
I loaned them to my friend to use on his 06 Type-S for a track day at MSR, and he was happy with their performance. I was running RS-2's that same day and they got greasy ~10 minutes into a session, my friend didn't have any issues with the SPT's.
I put ~10k miles on them, and combined with the track day, they really didn't show all that much wear.
edit: Just read your question about sidewall stiffness. While not as stiff as some tires like the 615's and RS2's, they're not exactly soft either. I was happy with their responsiveness, and I don't believe the tire rolled over any to where it was wearing on the sidewall area (past that point on tires where the triangles are at).

The reason I ask about the sidewall stiffness is because I drove an AP1 with Fuzion ZRi tires on it. The sidewalls were very soft and the car really moved around a lot in cornering and transition. Very disconcerting after the buttoned-down feel of my (lower profile) 17" tires. If the SPTs were anything like that, I wouldn't want them.
I do think I'll try them, though. I've got an extra set of RT-615s that I'll have to use up first, but perhaps I'll switch to SPTs all around when my fronts finally wear down. I may just end up with a second set of wheels and mount the Falkens on them for whenever I finally hit an auto-x in my car...

If you don't have SPT's by the time I get my car back on the road (should be a couple weeks or so), I can give a review of how they do on an S2000 specific size. I'll be running the same size in front as I did all around on my RSX. 225/45/17 front and 255/40/17 rear is what's going on the S2k.

I know the AD07 is slightly faster but I rated the RE-01R higher from my personal experience and the lower cost for what you get. I personally thought the AD07's were crap when I drove on them but it was probably the application.
It must have been your driving...

8 of the top 10 STU cars at Nationals were on the Yoks (top 6). Results don't lie.
