Default Stolen seats?

I'm looking around the board and I'm seeing a lot of posts about stolen seats. Has anyone around this area had it happen to them? I am just curious becasue I am thinking about getting a set of seat locks, but don't know if it is a good investment.

Why buy seat locks? So the thieves can slash your top, and when they find they can't remove your seats they'll just slash them too?

Personally, I think the smartest thing any convertible owner can do is call their insurance agent and have their comprehensive deductible lowered to something utterly insignificant. We currently have a $100 deductible on our comprehensive insurance, only because GMAC doesn't offer a $0 deductible comprehensive option.

I figure if my car is even broken into, more power to the thieves. I don't keep anything in there I can't replace, and I wouldn't even blink to pay my deductuble for a new top and/or seats. In fact, since my Miata is almost 7 years old and has over 100,000 miles, a thief would be doing me a favor if I could replace my top and both seats for $100.

If it's going to happen to you, there is little you can do to stop it. However, there is a lot you can do to make it as painless as possible if/when it does happen.

You make a VERY good argument. I am going to call my insurance company tomorrow to lower my comprehensive deductible. Thanks a lot!
