Default sticker residue removal

Anyone know of a good product that will remove sticker residue without killing the clear coat? I pulled some stickers off the car, and the residue is horrible. I tried some sticker removal liquid from Autozone, no luck. I tried various other items, no luck. Anyone have anything that'll work?

Try denatured alcohol.

I ended up getting some 3M GP Adhesive Remover. The label said it was safe for automotive finishes. Actually worked very well. It took some elbow grease, but all the adhesive came off in about 10 minutes compared to the 30 minutes I spent with that Autozone sticker remover.

I've always used lighter fluid, like Ronsonol. Just make sure to have a bucket of soapy water handy to wash off the lighter fluid, as you don't want to leave it on the paint for very long. But I've yet to find anything that will take off tar or sticker residue easier than lighter fluid.

Goo Gone removed the paint from the door when I was cleaning up that goopy sealant on the inner door panels when I gutted the doors, so be careful with it.

I'll have to try lighter fluid next time.

I usually use Simple Green for tar and adhesive and the like. Haven't had it remove any paint yet, though if it sits on Al it will discolor it.

Lighter fluid works OK, too, though as Iain mentioned I wouldn't leave it on for any length of time.

Will those things work on the residue left from wheel weight adhesive? I had my wheels rebalanced a while back and they removed some of the weights to reposition them (and left a heavy, sticky residue).

Anyone have experience with removing that stuff? I know they're on the inside of the wheel and not THAT visible but I'd prefer not to scratch the wheels if possible.

I can't imagine that no one has mentioned WD40. It's great for that with no degradation of paint or wax.
