Default Sam's or Wal-Mart gas?

Has anyone ever filled up with Sam's or Wal-Mart gas? I'm really tempted to try it since their gas is about 25 cents per gallon cheaper than Chevron's. Also, anyone know if they put fuel additives in the gas (like Chevron's Techron)?

I usually fill my car up at sams since i live right next to one. I'm not sure if they have additives or whatever, but I use the 93 octane and it works fine. btw, I drive a BPU Supra running 18+psi without any issues.

I spent about 20 years working for oil companies including Texaco (RIP), Caltex (RIP), and Fina. Almost all the gasoline found in the Dallas area is loaded at the four multi-brand terminals in Grapevine across from the high school on Hwy. 26. The exception being the Exxon/Mobil terminal near Texas Stadium.

All of the base gasoline is the same (from the same tanks). The only difference is the additives. The small horizontal tanks near the loading racks are the additive tanks. I think there are only 2 or 3 additive manufactures left in the USA. Chevron makes Techtrol, and also sells it to Fina who markets it a Genesis additive (same stuff). In my opinion the difference in additive packages is negligible.

All premium grade gasolines need some stabilizing and detergent additives to meet spec. And the spec for premium grade gasoline is very tight. Walmat and Sam's probably just negotiate the best price for the required additives from the majors. Rule of Thumb: "If its premium grade it is probably good". Actually buying it from a large retailer will likely insure quality control. I would feel more nervous buying premium gasoline from Jim Bob's Exxon in Boyd than Walmart brand.

Regards,

Al

I buy from there all the time. The only adverse affect I have ever had is lots of middle aged men driving SUV's with pallet loads of groceries in the back asking me tons of questions about my car.
