You'll be in the S2000 class... if your tires are treadwear less than 200 then you'll be in S2000R.

That is not an SA rated helmet. If it is SA rated it will have a tag inside or on the outside that says SA2000 or SA2005. I am not sure on the clubs policy but, most motorsports organizations require an SA rated helmet. No big deal though, the club has plenty of loaner helmets you can use.
That's not true, hardly ANY autocross clubs require SA helmets. Most just require M or SA 95+ but I think in october it's about to bump up to M or SA 2000+. Even a few DE's around here let you slide with the same ratings, but a few do require SA 2000+.

Come on out, your helmet is fine.

Well, that's sure make me feel a lot better because i was thinking kicking myself in the a$$ for buying the helmet which i thought is a good deal and can't even use it at the track

BTW, should i go ahead and alignment my car before the track or just wait until after the autox since i know will probably beat the heck out of the car at the track and the alignment probably will be off anyway.

Cosmos,
All of the ratings you've discussed above are SNELL ratings not DOT. I should have stated more clearly that most require a Snell rating not necessarily an SA rating. Every organization I've seen requires a Snell rating whether it be SA2000/2005 K or M Or one that meets SFI standards. There are huge differences in the testing methods of DOT and Snell.

Viets2k, don't worry about your alignment unless you know that it is way off. Once you have autocrossed the car you can determine what alignment adjustments will be most helpful to your driving style. My advice on the helmet would be to get your money back if you can. You can get a good SA rated helmet for about $100 if you shop around. Like I said the club has plenty available so it is really not necessary for you to have a helmet unless you plan to autocross or do more motorsports events on a regular basis. If you do enjoy autocrossing (I'm sure you will), you will definitely want a snell rated helmet. I'm not trying to be an ass, just trying to help you save some money over the long run. Your DOT rated helmet will not be accepted everywhere. An SA rated helmet will be universally accepted.

Doh' you're right, it is Snell. I forgot they are the governing body for racing helmet safety, but i think DOT is general road use. Anyways, I was on the right track since most the clubs just require a general 95+ snell rating not SA (special applications). I happen to use a M2000 helmet which is made for automotive use but not SA (non-flame retardant equipped)

I haven't read the club rules, but that can't be right. The stock AP1 S-02s are 140 treadwear. Should be 100 or less I think.

Just signed up. Corey, you're in trouble this time. Got some fresh tires.
I'm flying back from Hong Kong in the morning, so I always have the jet lag excuse handy if need be

Doh, you're probably right... I just overheard it once and went with it... always thought it was strange that it was so high considering the stock tires... Guess I should have included a disclaimer that I'm an idiot while I was at it
