Glad to hear everyone had a good time at the autocross. I was on my way back from the big show in Topeka and unfortunatley missed my first S2K autocross ever. We had a great time at Nationals though and I would encourage any of you who have an interest in learning how much faster you can go to attend next year. The overall experience is awesome!

I did pretty well for my first time at Nationals. The overall experience is pretty overwhelming. Our class had 61 talented drivers and 9 past champions. After the first day I was a few tenths out of the trophies. Feeling better about grip and setup after each run. Then on day 2, I woke up and couldn't get mentally fired up. Instead of gaining a few spots I fell back. No doubt, I'll be back next year in the Elise. I should mention an Elise driven by a super-human-freak took first in my class. Pretty cool...
I still think you are THE premier driver in the country! You are right, though, that Nationals is a totally overwhelming event. The level of competition and even the whole event is something that everyone should experience at least once. To just see the rivers of superbly set up machines is awesome. Most people settle down after 2-3 years, especially on the second day when it's do or die.

I hope you had a great time and took the opportunity to quiz the winners on car set up.

Ed

Yeah, what's next for the ol' Elise, eh?

I hate to say it, but as much as I've tried to not pay out the nose for the over-priced limited slip, I'm afraid it's a must have. I got wheel spin in at least 5 places on day 2 as the track was rubbering in. In 2 places it was major. No excuse, because it was my fault I didn't have it, but I had the only car in SS without.

BTW, congrats Elistan on a nice drive at the S2000 event this past weekend.

And thanks for the kind words Ed.

Thanks! The car felt exceptionally good that morning.

You still have stock swabar and shocks, right?

ps - EgoThreat hates the RS2 tires on her car right now. Looks like I might get her a set of OEM S02's for Christmas, if they're still available.

Heh... she was faster than I was on my Kumho's... (and you were a LOT faster on your Kumho's)

Stock shocks with a slightly stiffer front bar...could probably use a good bit more. The winning car was running with one hell of a talented driver and Penske dampers at $1,400 A PIECE! No one ever said SS was cheap.
We've talked about this vaguely before -- but $1400 per corner should be outlawed. That is far from being a stock car. And it ruins the spirit of grassroots racing of 'wrung what you brung'.

There's a reason her screen name is "EgoThreat." Which Kumhos do you have, the MXs?

Oh yeah, I wanted to extend a welcome to FNG Brian, MY06 owner out for his first event with us.

And Thomas, that was your second event, right?

Finally - Hey Al, how's the car? I hope the repair went smoothly.

Correct, the MX's in stock size... if I wanted to turn the excuse generator handle, I could say that I had just gotten them on the car and hadn't scrubbed them in yet... but to be honest, I'm just slower than some... Luckily, I don't have much of an ego at this (yet?) to threaten it much...

Yea, second time. Night and day difference with fresher tires and more confidence. Still got my ego threatened, though.
Question -I ran that autocross on stock-spec alignment because I was afraid of ruining the tires on the street too quickly. Is there a good street/autocross dual purpose alignment I can keep it on without completely trashing my tires on the highway? I want to be really competitive at the next event, but don't have the bucks to autocross align, then street align, etc.
