I'm not registering because I hope my S is in Washington by then. But I'll be attending in my Nissan Titan to help out where I can. Maybe someone with a turbo S or a Lotus will give me a fun run.
Fred, I will be co-driving the S2000 that day with my girlfriend. If you decide you have the itch to get on the course you're welcome to drive the RX8, i know it's no 500 rwhp S2000 but it's better than nothing

I'll say this about the RX-8 - a decent set of tires, a proper alignment, and a set of OTS Konis make a HUGE difference. Truly night and day. I wasn't very impressed with Jon's '04 at all in stock form (in fact, I didn't enjoy driving it at all), but a Stock class makeover really woke the car up and made it a lot of fun to race. In typical Mazda fashion, it really responds well to a proper alignment, although unlike the Miata so far we've found this car to work better with a stock front swaybar instead of the typical SCCA Stock class big front bars.

It's a very forgiving car to drive at the limit with the long wheelbase, it's got excellent brakes, decent torque, good throttle response, and great steady state grip. After driving a properly setup one, I've fallen in love with them.

I'll most likely be co-driving Jon's bright yellow '04 at this event, even though I'm currently registered in the Miata. You're welcome to ride along on a couple of runs to experience one at speed, if you want.
Would you mind letting me know what alignment specs you guys finally went with? I think I will have to get that done before the BMW/S2K events at the end of June. I'm going to see how bad the alignment from the factory is tomorrow at PCA. I hope it does make a big difference, last time I drove a stock 04 without an alignment and I hated it.

By the way, I found a place that has a set of 245/40/18 Toyo RA-1 for about 550+shipping so I may snag a set of spare stock wheels and get those after some shocks.

An RX-8 is one vehicle I haven't had any trouble convincing the wife is usable or moderately suited to us as a second vehicle (four doors, four seats, despite them not being huge). Decent looking, too, especially with a drop and the aero package. My heart's just after an S2000, though I've looked at Miatas recently as a much lower cost option (but great for auto-x, which is what I want to do to start out).

I'd love to ride along but I'm living in Lufkin now so I can't just whip up to Mineral Wells on a whim (4.5 hour drive, at least). Thanks for the offer, though. I'll still make it to the occasional auto-x (not like I made a lot when I was living in Fort Worth) but they'll be few and far between.

See everyone there... it will be good to be back out!
As promised, my bone stock, beat-to-hell Integra is on the table too... It is slow and underpowered, but it is a lot of fun to drive.

Now I have to decide what to do with the blue car... just got it out of the shop today for wheel bearing #5 (and the last time it will have to be done)...

My Integra MAY be there now... had some good smoke blow today... going to do some checking tomorrow to see if I can find out why... I am hoping it was just burn off from a leaky oil pan gasket...

Thought I'd give this thread a bump. We need a few more S2000's to sign up!

^^ I'd like to go, but do you need to have a helmet to participate? I've never been to an autocross before. I just want to make sure i'm not showing up for nothing

Yes, a helmet is required - but we have a couple loaner ones available.
