Gosh, I don't think EgoThreat has ever been able to walk the course, and I only manage it every once in a while as part of chalking the cones.

FWIW, make sure you arrive in time to do all of your setup (air pressures, shock valving, ECU downloads/mapping, floormat/etc. removal...) before you walk the course. In my case, at least 3 course walks allow me to get a feel for the varying pavement surfaces (gravel, paint, clear), course/section flow, camber changes / bumps and the like.
And I thought it was the extra 100+rwhp you had that allowed you to beat me by a few tenths at one of the last autocrosses.

No, it's just because he removed his floormats for that extra 3 pounds in weight reduction. Ever heard of power to weight

Easy on my boy...I'd hate to have to bring up the 2 full seconds.
Hard to compare street tires and R compounds.

Yeah, I admit the walks do me a world of good in sorting things out before I get behind the wheel. A good preview in short-term memory helps me look way ahead while driving the course. Difference between being proactive and reactive. Absent the preview, I've never been happy with the way I've driven on those days.

Driver's side floormat has to be removed for SCCA & I thought for our club as well. And while we all keep an eye on weight removal, don't run too low on gas in the S if you're on sticky tires and have a course with long left-hand sweepers (fuel starve). Somewhere between 1/2 and 1/4 of a tank has kept me out of trouble after we fuel starved at the National Tour.

Link? I'm a bit confused? Stanford beat me by two seconds when we were both on street tires?

It really is good idea to walk the course several times before hand. Pick out the important cones and turns (those leading into fast sections), check the surface, and put together a map in your head. Then, imagine driving the course a couple times while you're waiting in grid. Autocross is as much of a mind game as it is driving skill.

If we get Ego out for some course walks this year you guys are going to be in even more trouble...
