Default Really....The best tires are??

Well looks like I will require a new set of rears and of course I missed out on the group buy!

I jumped over to the Tire Rack site to look at different tires, in an attempt to be an informed shopper but I'm not convinced. I am hesitant to buy the OEM tires since the rears will probably only squeeze out 15,000 miles!

Any thoughts on the Michelin Pilot SX MXX3, Potenza S02 and S03, Potenza RE730, Expedia S01, or the Dunlop SP Sport 9000??

Does it make sense to order from Tire Rack or should I go to NTB or Discount Tire?? What would be the best deal?

I just got my BFG g-Force KDWs in yesterday. 215x50x16 and 245x45x16. Now, i'm just waiting for my rims to come in. I'll post comments on the BFGs whenever I get them on my car.

After driving these tirse for 6000 miles, I would not recommend Yoko AVS Sports. GREAT in the rain but they just aren't sticky enough in the dry.

I just looked at the resluts and it appears the SO2 is the hands down winner. I have to admit, it is a great tire but I'm not independently wealthy and I need to get more that 7,500 miles out of a $200 tire. I have 9,200 miles on mine and I ran winter tires for at least 2,500 of those miles. I hope to get another two months out of the SO2's I have on now. I read every post about tires and am in the market. Keep them coming

Be careful about saying that the results show a "hands-down winner" - there have been only 3 votes so far!

I think the OEM S02's are phenominal, but I have no experience with the other models you ask about.

I got about 17k mi on my first set, and am about 11k mi into the second. That includes track time.

It depends. I just bought my BFGs from Tire Rack Tuesday and got them in yesterday. HondaGuy told me that it cost around $100 to get them mounted and balanced at Discount Tire. You just have to call the different locations and see how much the prices are.

For instance, let's say I got my tires at Tire Rack for $450 w/shipping. If it cost $100 to mount/balance, then total would be $550. If you call the Discount Tires around the metroplex, all of them will give you a different price. (Believe me, i've tried this on my past tires). So if you find a deal that's under $550 at Discount Tire, that's the one to take. Also, you have to factor in the time it saves b/c you don't have to bring the tires to Discount Tire.

The reason ordered from Tire Rack was b/c my rims won't be in until next month. That promotional deal for BFG with the free G-Tech Pro ends Aug. 30th, I believe.

At 15,000 miles my OEM Bridgestones(rear) were gone. They were great in the dry, but lousy in the wet (hydroplaning). Since the fronts were still in great shape, I opted for a set of Michelin Pilot Sports for the rear. Handling is fine (I don't track the car or autocross) and wet-weather traction is excellent with no hydroplaning like with the Bridgestones.
