Thumbs up Radio codes

I replaced my battery and found out that I had put my manuals up some place safe and they are so safe I can't find them and therefore I don't have my radio code.

Is there an easy way to get my codes other than going to a dealer?

You don't have to go to the dealer....you can just call them and give them the VIN and they should have the code for you. Other than that you will just have to take the radio out and look in the back of the radio since i don't think the manual owner book have it unless i am wrong

I'm pretty sure there's a combination of buttons you can push on the radio that will tell you the serial # so you don't have to physically pull it out.

The dealer is the only person (besides you) that has the code. So, unless you can find the code, then there is no other way to get it.

I didn't realize that I needed the SN from the radio.

Per that link I found a sticker in the armrest cavity but it is a series of letters and numbers. How do I enter the letters and how do I enter a 0 since the radio only has the numbers 1-6?

Turn your radio off. Then press and hold 1 & 6 Together. While still Holding turn the Radio on. You should either get the ESN from the display or enter Diagnostic mode that shows you the ESN.

How does that tell me how to enter the numbers on the sticker on my armrest lid?

I thought the sticker was my radio code.

Oh, in that case, enter the 5 digit code using your preset buttons.

Ahhh, it's not a 5 digit code. It has exactly 5 numbers but it goes like this:

XXX (letters)##00###0

I get ERR2 when I enter just the 5 numbers.

I didn't have any idea of how many numbers were in the code.

Well once a service department was open it wasn't hard to get my radio codes and enter them.

I would suggest that you get your codes while your radio is still working and write it on the little sticker that the dealers put in your car when you buy it. My sticker was in the lid of my armrest, some put them in the trunk.
