Really neat car - we should at least see it at some of the British get-togethers around the area. Have you looked at Yokohama A032R's for sizing? If you call Todd Eaddy at the Discount Tire in Flower Mound (I know, that's a long way - it's a long way from Rockwall, too, but he gives Autocrossers free labor and really will spend quite a bit of time locating what you need). Or maybe look at Falken Ziex ZE-512...
As I said, even 185-60 rubbed. These were Yokohama A001R (the first "R" tire) and A008R, not over sized Hoosiers. Hoosier didn't have a stock category tire then.

The original size was 145-13. For street 175/70-13 matches diameter closer doesn't rub, and almost fits spare tire well.

Tire rack search of 185-60 13 yielded two tires - the Hoosier and a SumitomoHTR 200. (They don't handle Falken) Sumitomos may not be autocross legal. Tire rack list only three diameters not 4. Anyone know anything about Sumitomo HRT200? The price is only $35.

Falken website is unusable on 26K modem. Do they have any 185/60 13 or 175/70 13?

175/70 yielded only the Sumitomo and lots of all-season tires.

I have tried discount. I got the current tires on the car - Monarchs - from Discount Tire after search for anything available - all seasons again.

New performane tire models rarely come in 13 inch (if fact often not in 14 or 15) .

A 032 is half way between. Not a true AX tire, and not a good road tire - loud and not for wet. no 185-60 or 175-70 . Does have 175/60, but expensive and too short. Messes up speedo, and ItElan is rev rather than power limited in 4th now. Needs a 5th and 6th on top.

I ran across a tire write-up for Spitfires a while back...

You may find it useful in your quest for new shoes.

Have a look at these - no 175/70's but 175/60's (again, if you call a dealer they may be able to find something that they don't show on their website because it isn't a popular size):

The Ziex ZE-512's come in 175/60/13. They call it an All-Season Performance with quiet and comfortable ride. We have the Ziex ZE-502's on our Spitfire - a little less stick (maybe) than the performance tires, though Ray did some fairly aggressive driving (well, aggressive for a stock 1147 motor) at Motorsport Ranch on those tires. Anyway, those come in the same sizes. I'm sure any Discount Tire or Tire Rack can order these for you - you'll just have to call rather than order the stuff they list online.

Oh, yeah - I almost forgot that I also autocrossed those same ZE-502's with a different motor in the car (a "tweaked" 1500) at the last Triumph Regional event and came up with FTD. They have excellent traction in the rain, too.
