I just heard from my cousin in Houston - the zipcode next to where they live is under mandatory evacuation orders, so they've decided to pack up the dog and stuff and head up to Dallas this afternoon. Storm or not, I won't be going anywhere Saturday.

Time to fill up some water jugs and make sure the gas tanks are topped off. And get some candles. All the power lines in our neighborhood are on poles, and there are a lot of 50-year old trees around. I wouldn't be surprised if we loose power for a good while.

Elistan - Thanks for making the call. I think it was the right one. Next event - 80F, sun.
No, it's the nature of the beast. Now you've caused the hurricane to take a different path or die and we'll have perfect weather, but the next one will have a snow storm.

Ya can't win so why even try?

Beaumont and Port Arthur are being evacuated as well . My old Texaco buddy and his family are coming up to the Lake House (aka Tees Aquatic Complex). Take care folks.

For Saturday they're showing 30 to 40 mph winds in Tyler, with gusts to 55. Make sure everything's tied down, Al!

That's what I spent lunch doing. All the lawn chairs are in the Party Room, and all the towables are put away. I relying on the weight of the beer to keep the ice chests from blowing away. Otherwise it will be like Easter for drunks; fishing beer bottles our of the river reeds .

About the Auto-X: I'm bummed, but I totally understand and agree with the decision. I don't want my car outside in bad weather.

Yeah, last time you hit the tree. Wouldn't want to tree to hit back in the 90 mph winds

Sorry I couldn't resist

Sure enough now you have made it lose intensity and curve further east. Now Dallas is only on the fringe of the trailing edge which is the dry edge of the storm.

FW and Mineral Wells isn't even in the path of any hurricane winds or rains.

As far as I know, the PCA autocross on Sunday at Birdville Stadium in North Richland Hills is still on. More info at http://mav.pca.org/Events/AX.asp.
