What I want to know is why we never go to Woody's for beer after we finish. Good place to recognize results too.

Seems like this message has gotten lost in the mix. I expect uber hot temps on Sat, so I know I could probably use a few cold beers after the event. Where's Woody's and who wants to go?

im very interested in making it out to this auto-x. i've been meaning to make it to a race for years. this one looks like it fits in the schedule. anyway, what do i need to know? i assume helmets will be available for rent? any other details or tips you guys have for a complete auto-x newbie? i would definitely like to take advantage of the available instructors....are they an additional charge?

thanks!

There are lots of guys and gals that would be dying to show you the ropes free of charge. The club has a limited amount of loaner helmets (if I recall).

If you get there early, say about 7:30am, you shouldn't have a problem securing a helmet. Besides, you would only borrow it when it is your time to run.

Send a PM to Clovis or Elistan and they can give you the specifics.

See you there.

Most of the details you need are on the first page of this thread. Just bring yourself, you car, a little cash, and lot's of water and sunscreen. Be there on time and ready to go so you have plenty of time to pre-walk and learn the course. There are lot's of people who will be willing to give you tips at the event. Instructors are available free of charge and loaner helmets are available during your runs. Look forward to seeing you there.

We typically finish the actual autocross around 3:30. Fun runs go for maybe 30 minutes or so after.

A drive from downtown Dallas whould be about 1.5 hours.

Thanks for the tip Gregg, but I have no intention of shutting the motor off between runs. If anything, I'll be running the heater before runs 3 & 4 to keep the water temp from spiking.

I can manage the coolant temps - I'm more concerned about managing the tire temps. I'd prefer 15+ minutes between runs in these temps, but even five minutes between runs is better than no break at all.
Maybe we need a water trough to drive through between runs.

Did you notice I swapped tires at lunch last time? Learn the course on oldies then mount cool(er) new(er) ones for the afternoon.

Gregg
