Default Mileage

Leaving town tonight, Mapquest says it's about 306 miles to Little Rock from Dallas. Has anyone ever put that many miles on one tank of gas in an S? Just curious if I can make it w/o stopping till then.

13.2 gallon tank would take you 315 miles at 24 mpg. I'm guessing you'd arrive on fumes. Reminds me of an old Top Gear episode...Clarkson was hillarious.

I've driven to Austin many times on less than a tank of gas.

From where? Dallas to Austin is somewhere around 180 miles... not really helpful in this calculation.

When I get home, I'll try to remember to dig out my records from when I drove to Alabama. Straight highway cruising 90% of the time. I think I pulled about 28-29mpg... so by that calculation it should be possible. Just make sure you're not going to get stuck in traffic when you're running on fumes.

I thought Austin was about 300 miles. I've never really paid attention. That explains why I can drive there and drive around a bit before I need gas. I usually use 2 tanks of gas and that includes all my driving around in Austin as well.

I've always gotten very high 20's for gas mileage on the road. Once upon a time when I wasn't driving 80 I broke 30 but I quit keeping MPG over a year ago.

Longest I've ever streched it was from Galveston to Lewisville on 7/8 tank. Made it back on Fumes, I'm sure the milage could've been better but it was a brand new AP2, and I was haulin' ass....

I've made that trip on a tank of gas last year on the way to Atlanta for the NOPI Nationals. I arrived with no bars showing and the gas light bright, but i made it.

I averaged somer where in the high-20's (27-9 I think) when I was moving from South Florida to here, but that was cruise control set at about 75 with no variation

I filled up today and the trip odometer read 288 miles. No markers showing on the fuel guage. This was 4 days of my usual commute up and down 75 to work.

Back many mods ago I got well over 300 miles on a tank of easy highway driving.. not hard if you stay in 6th, windows up, speed less than 70, no hard charging passes. I seldom have a drive where I can take it that easy and my ECU doesn't help with mileage so I doubt I could do it today.
