Honestly, I'm really looking forward to driving around Mustang Island and the Bay. Coastal crusing in the S? Life doesn't get much better than that for me

Might go check out the aquarium in Corpus. Kinda wanted to check out the USS Lexington there too.

Recommendations on attractions? (restaurants in and around Port A? Other sights to see?)
Well, you won't get much "coastal cruising" in Port A in the S. Most of the way between CC anfd Port A you can not see the ocean. Unless you decide to (eek) drive the car on the sand... have a 6 pack of beer handy in case you get stuck in the sand tho. Coastal cruising i'd say hit Corpus somewhere... Not that familiar with it as i always go straight to Port A...

Affordable places to stay if you dont have one, i say Beachgate III or the Beachcomber.

Eats... La Playa Mexican Grille (good margaritas)... I love Snoopy's (It's right under the Causeway)... And there's one other place I can't remember what it's called but go to the end of the main road in Port A to the T intersection and just to your right (in front of you) is a restaurant/bar that has live music outside in the breeze. It's my fave.

Fishing: Captain Kellys Deep Sea headquarters hands down for an affordable trip.

Be sure you buy the beach parking pass at any Circle K to avoid a ticket.

The aquarium is pretty cool, and the Lexington has some very cool old fighter jets on the top deck...

Enjoy...

PS - I'd avoid Sharkey's nightclub... It's a sausage fest.

[QUOTE=Colby,May 22 2007, 02:37 PM] Actually, Yes ... in a way.

Takin' the bad boy down to Port Aransas for the weekend .. stopping off in Houston along the way on business.

Anyone ever been? Taking Hwy 35 through Port Lavaca and Rockport ... hoping for some scenery.

How are the beaches? I know they're not on par with Florida and whatnot, but I'm in need of some relaxing by shore
