Default Maintenance

I need to change out my ATF on my truck and the differential fluid on both the truck and the S.

Anyone have a way to do this in a not so dirty way? I think the shop charges an unreasonable amount to change it out, IIRC.

Thanks,

TxPhantom

It's not too bad if you have a jack and a good fluid pump. Basically just like changing the oil but the fillup part is a little more difficult.

Wow. I called Pep Boys thinking I could save $$ by using them for a tranny fluid change and a rear differential fluid change. (I never use the dealer - I use Toyo Town, a specialist)

Pep Boys:
Tranny fluid - 149.00
Rear Diff: 69.00

Toyo Town:
Tranny fluid - 46.25
Rear Diff: 46.25

WTF???

Pep Boys is probably charging for 3 hours labor, because they'll spend 2.5 hours scratching their head about why a Miata has a Honda badge on it, another 15 minutes taking a smoke break, and then the last 15 minutes changing your fluids.

No Sh*t man.

Just to see if they guy was on the level, I called a few other pep boys:

Store #

721: $149, said he could nto guarantee the truck would run, that the tranny fluid might be "what's holding it together"

705: $119, but they woudl not touch a transmission with over 100K on it.

761: $150, he didnt seem to care about the mileage.

These people suck!
