Since I haven't autocrossed with SCCA in 17 years, I don't follow their class rules anymore. However, I don't think it's really "fair" to use SCCA Nationals results to compare against a club that does most of their autocrosses at MIneral Wells where I believe AWD makes a huge difference. Obviously some courses provide more benefit, but there was no way in hell that I could have cut 3.7 seconds off my times last saturday. On a smooth, clean surface, I think the S2000 is competitive, but that's not MW...

Well Mineral Wells is a site used for national SCCA events, and even if you look at the results the STU cars have been faster then STR out there because the courses tend to be more open and the STU cars generate way more thrust then the STR cars. As well as the whole AWD thing.

Just look at the PAX values and all the relations between the classes they are all that way for a reason.

Their calendar might be wrong, but it shows 5 events at MW and only 2 at TMS this year.

So now you're supporting my side of the argument! The BMW courses tend to be more power oriented as well.

If you read what I said about the STU cars in the same class as the STR cars, I said the boost buggies were faster.

"A fully prepped STU STI/EVO is faster then the STR car. Just look at nationals results, we just do not have any running in NTAXS or BMWCCA to show that speed differential. Especially on a lower grip surface like the Bus Lot, or the more open courses at MWells. " - Me

I guess I was confused by the statement you made before that about the classes being fine.

Yeah, that is what I figured. I just meant that as far as a simple classing system goes, the BMW CCA and NTAXS ones are pretty good. The few changes I suggested would help fix them but it does add more complication. There are also other more rare cars that just do not fit in properly such as a mk1 997 911 GT3 or GT3 RS, but making rules based on that exception would be difficult.

DLB will not let me change your name. I will do it on site.

I am open to suggestions for classing next year. Please PM me your ideas.

I am also willing to drive your car to see how much time difference we would have. I have driven S2000 in the past with some success.
