Interesting Hybrid/Insight Info
Not sure how many of you saw this:
http://www.marcuccimotorsports.com/r...es/insight/NBC Hybrid Rescue Danger 7-23-05.mpg
on NBC Nightly News last Saturday the 23rd. Thought it was interesting. Brought it up with the automotive development manager where I work who forwarded me this:
http://www.marcuccimotorsports.com/resourc...nda_Insight.pdf
Which has some interesting info on the Insight's operation and safety. It's wild to me that there is much concern over this, but I suppose that someone's going to find a way to hurt themselves at some point. Even if you were to short out the batteries, in a non-earth-grounded system there is VERY little chance of getting hurt. The shit scared out of you, maybe. Will be a good chance, though, to make my stock go up.

Leave it to the media to put everyone in a frenzy over nothing. I saw reports like this about a year ago when hybrids were getting very popular. Emergency crews are treating them like ticking time bombs, as if the manufacturers never crash tested them. Isn't the 10+ gallons of fuel just as dangerous as the high voltage? C'mon...

A news story to try to mke Americans view hybrids as evil since they are selling just as quick as they can be produced? It may sound stupid, but who sponsors that news show? An oil company? Spread some scare to try to get Americans to dislike hybrids like they do turbo diesels...
