Default Inspection fail - gas cap

So went to get inspection done and failed bc the gas cap couldnt be pressurized. They said to go to Honda, but I can just get a new one at OReilleys or autozone right?

Possibly, this ad lists a Gates brand (and part number) as a direct replacement.

I'm surprised you don't have a check engine light for the gas cap...

I had the same problem on my last inspection (this time last year). The pressure test failed, but the ECM hadn't caught it. In my case, Kwik Kar Lube had a replacement one... was only about $10 if I remember correctly.

I previously had a CEL but started tightening the cap by gripping the sides till it tightened and not the center till it clicked. Read this in another post and it made the CEL go away

You can get it at any local auto store.
If you failed inspection, don't you have to pay again to have it inspected again?

No, you have to return to the place that did the first test and they will do not charge (not supposed to) for a re-test. It has to be within 30 days of the initial test.

I'd still go OEM for something like that. Yeah, it's just a gas cap, but with emissions etc. you can never be too sure how well they work. I don't think there's that much difference in cost either.

Yes, the retest is free. But you have to go to the place that did the original.
