Help! Need track time (car or kart)
OK, our CEO is coming to visit along with the director of our business unit and sales... Two of them are car nuts and I need to entertain them. Does anyone have suggestions for:
- open track time (any MSR members want to volunteer to chaperone? I can pay the track fees and gas cost)
- driving schools (TDE, karting, etc.)
- karting that's not lame like Speed Zone (something like TBC was or better)?
The caveat is that this will be next Thursday afternoon/evening, we will have 5-12 people to entertain, we will only have 2-4 hours to allocate to it, and it needs to be in the sub-$1k ballpark.
TIA guys... any input appreciated.

You can rent Miatas at MSR through Speed Ventures I believe. I would call out there and see if they can accomodate you.
Movin' on up in the world, huh? Congrats, Todd! Rubbing elbows with the CEO is never a bad thing. I do something similiar as I seem to be on the same bathroom schedule as our CEO. It's a big strange standing next to a guy at the urinal worth tens of millions of dollars and boss of a 10,000 employee company.

What about calling the RUF plant and see if they can set up a tour of the facilities (and maybe a test drive)?
Otherwise, looks like the Z club has MSR rented that day.

Pretty sure you couldn't have a better time than this: http://www.gofasterkarting.com/
Track is fun, karts are fast, and it looks like they have next Thursday open. Might be worth a call...

You might contact Texas Driving Experience At Texas Motor Speedway. They do a lot of corporate events, and they offer everything from five-lap ride-alongs on the roval in Z06 Corvettes up to full race licensing programs. Dunno if the have any openings for next Thursday, though.

One other suggestion: if you can't manage to arrange any track time, perhaps a guided tour through the facility at Unique Performance in Carrolton would be something that would interest them?
Unique Performance is the facility that builds continuation series Shelby Cobras, GT500Es (think Eleanor from Gone in Sixty Seconds) and other Shelby products. They also do vintage hot rod restoration. If you like hot rods or muscle cars, you really should tour their facility at some point. I also know they occasionally open after hours for tours and functions, since a recent North Texas SAE meeting was held there on a Thursday evening.
