Default Help a fellow S owner out?

Hi all,

My name is Scott and I'm a long time S2000 owner. I'm looking to buy my third S and have found one in the DFW area that I am very interested in (I'm in Denver, CO).

I was hoping that someone would take a look at it for me since you can only tell so much from pics online....I'll buy ya dinner if/when I come out to get the car

The car is located at the Dallas Preowned Auto Group, 415, N. Greenville Ave.
Richardson, TX 75081 (anyone have any experience with this place??)

Let me know and I'll set up an appt. with the gentleman there that I have been talking to.

Thanks in advance!
Scott-

Your best bet is to just have a PPI done at a Honda dealer and get an independent report.

I drive past that on my way home from work every once in a while when traffic is bad on the highway. They had a yellow S there a few months ago, but I don't think I've driven past it since. They had a yellow S there about a year ago, but I don't know if it's the same one (it disappeared for a long time).

I can check it out either today or tomorrow if you'd like, anytime after 5pm. Let me know if you want me to drive it. Shoot me a PM with the salesperson's name.

I just drove by there about an hour ago and saw it!

They have the AP2 Rio Yellow parked out on the front row. It looks pretty good from afar.

I've never been in an S2000 before and so I wouldn't know what to look for. I can stop by to check out the physical condition of the car and tell you if they match the photos taken. It's been on the lot for a while now.

Yeah me either. Did you run a carfax? Most small dealerships by nice wrecked cars and rebuild them

It's funny. The online site for that dealer makes it look really nice. Honestly, it's a very small building (1000 sq ft?) and a parking lot (~50 spaces?). The page for the S2000 has lots of pictures, but they aren't very high-res and none show the blemishes on the car.

I think it's fair game to post what I found on the car yesterday. Here is the summary I sent to Scott yesterday evening:

-Paintwork evidence (rough edges) on both front and rear fenders
-Touchup paint applied to rear decklid to cover a couple chips (smaller than dime size)
-Peeling paint near passenger side leading edge of rear deck
-Brake fluid looks original (never replaced) -- it's black
-Top has 4 patches on it to cover holes
-Trunk lid is not sealing flush on driver side
-No dings or dents, but a couple of areas where the bodywork seems wavy (leading top edge of right rear fender and left front fender top)
-Airbag light remains lit while engine running & driving
-No coolant in reservoir tank
-No spare tire
-Aftermarket shift knob
-Clutch pedal feels a little stiff
-Tire tread is approx. 50% remaining on rear, approx. 85%+ on front
-Idle is a little rough. (Car has a little tremor when sitting at a light; not really normal)
-Oil looks clean
-Seats have minimal wear; interior looks good
-No evidence of rock chips or even scrapes from curbs on front, but I think it's probably been resprayed.
-I think all front panels had VIN tags on them; didn't check the rears.

Wow, very good detective work. I'm bringing Ryan with me to buy my next car

Based on that write up I would run as fast as possible.
