My buddy has a Birel shifter kart.

Except the chassis has been lengthened and a CBR 600RR motor is installed. =) It is known to us as "Death Kart" because it's the closest feeling you can get to dying without actually dying.

Edit: well no one has died on it yet

Houston has an in-door gas-powered go-kart track called Track-21. And Austin has an outdoor track called Ironway Raceway, but they are currently closed...

I have an old CRG - trying to obtain a Rotax motor

Hey all...

I'm from Chicago and travel to Plano each week on business. Given that I have some evenings free from time to time, I was thinking about occupying my time with some karting. I've been karting only twice, but it's such a blast, I'd like to get better.

Back home I have Chicago Indoor Racing to keep me entertained.

Is there anything similar in or around the Dallas area?

Thanks in advance for any help you all can provide!
the place everyone is talking about that used to be here was TBC Indoor Karting. We (and other car clubs) used to hold events there. I've raced at Chicago Indoor and TBC couldn't hold a candle to it. They were electric karts, and fairly quick, but the Chicago karts and tracks just spanked what TBC had.

Malibu Speed Zone sucked in comparison to TBC, so compared to Chicago you will be disappointed there. It's also disturbingly expensive in comparison.

Just FYI...

You can purchase a one-on-one session in a shifter kart or 4-cycle race kart at North Texas Kartway in Denton, TX here
