Go Kart Tracks (Indoor or Outdoor)...

Speedzone def. has the best karts around DFW, by no means fast, but it can fun especially on tuesdays...for $35 you get unlimited racing and video games. Down a few at the bar and your ready for the slick track!!

the speedzone slick track is really the only fun part of it. but the motors cut out when you reach a certain speed. I like it though. The season pass is pretty cheap to. I almost bought it...

^^ Yeah, a couple years ago I think.
I remember it being not very busy, and the karts and timing system having lots of issues. Either didn't spend enough money on training and maintenance to draw good crowds, or there wasn't enough business to start with in order for them to keep things in good order.
Mythbusters had a show recently that was filmed in a gasoline indoor karting track. I guess they plenty of ventilation to not kill anybody? But I wonder if gas karts are any easier to maintain than lead-acid battery karts.
Oh, also - I quickly get pretty bored on the Speedzone slick track because they are so underpowered. 100% throttle all the time, never hit the brakes, and the karts lose so much speed during slides that it negates any fun in it. Looking at their website, they say the slick track is "NEW!" so maybe they've changed it since I last drove there? Do the no longer have the time-trial type track? That one was somewhat fun because you actually had to brake for the corners sometimes. But the website says the Thunder Road track allows for 30 karts wheel-to-wheel, so they must have totally redone that track?

My buddy has a Birel shifter kart.
Except the chassis has been lengthened and a CBR 600RR motor is installed. =) It is known to us as "Death Kart" because it's the closest feeling you can get to dying without actually dying.
Edit: well no one has died on it yet

when i used to live in san diego, i had friends who worked at a fun center kinda like speedzone. they would tie a shoe string to the throttle and i would hold the other end. it would somehow bypass the rev limiter adjustment bolt and the karts would fly. make some friends at speedzone.
