Thumbs up Go Kart Tracks (Indoor or Outdoor)...

Hey all...

I'm from Chicago and travel to Plano each week on business. Given that I have some evenings free from time to time, I was thinking about occupying my time with some karting. I've been karting only twice, but it's such a blast, I'd like to get better.

Back home I have Chicago Indoor Racing to keep me entertained.

Is there anything similar in or around the Dallas area?

Thanks in advance for any help you all can provide!

Are the karts at Speed Zone well powered? Looking at the website, it seems more like a step up from Chuck E. Cheese rather than a serious karting venue. Does anyone who has been there have any reviews?

Where? Do you have any track websites or anything? Or are you implying that you only have tracks where you have to supply your own karts?

Yeah, Speedzone is to karting like Chuck E Cheese is to quality pizza. Same general idea, but substantially different.

There used to be an indoor electric powered kart track on I35 near downtown, but IIRC they went out of business a while ago.

There's a dedicated race track in Denton, http://www.ntkarters.com/, but I think it's only for people with their own karts.

I don't know of any place where you can rent performance oriented karts on a per-session basis, sorry.

Ahh well... I'll have to keep my Schumi wannabe tendencies to Chicago.

Thanks for the clarification everyone...

Unfortunately majority of the people in Dallas only drink, eat and go to the movies. We are the test market for restaurants, that's our claim to fame.

I miss my business trips to Chicago, don't miss the winter though.
