FS: Hondata Intake Manifold (Heatshield) Gaskets
Hi all,
I'm clearing out the garage and I have a couple of these left over. I'd really like to unload these. I've also got a few for other Hondas and Miatas. Asking $52 w/local pickup (Mansfield) or $55 shipped USPS. Will ship priority for anyone out of town.
This is one of the cheapest mods you can do to your S and it makes a noticeably improvement in power (primarily by eliminating that hesitation you get in traffic and hot weather). This insulating gasket will help reduce the effect of heat soak from the head heating the intake manifold.
I've written up the install & technical detail here:
http://www.s2000.org/mods/insulator/
The results are the same on all engines- basically, the head heats the manifold which contributes to increased intake charge temps which means you are losing air density. Further, the ECU will pull out timing at certain temps which reduces power even more. You basically won't find as cheap a power added our there as the manifold, TypeSH on the board gained 6WHP pretty much across the board on his H22A Prelude after adding this.
Installation DOES require removal of the manifold which is no simple task. In about 4-6 hours just about any shadetree can do it, though. I'll do this for locals for $260 inclusive of gasket & all materials (requires coolant drain & some crush washers).

Todd,
Considering you have experience with both, which do you consider more effective?
Hondata Intake Manifold Gasket
OR
Intake heat shield mod (http://www.s2000.org/mods/heatshield/)
thanks

Thanks for the response guys, I am responding to PMs now... I will post back when I don't have any left.
I do have them for ALL Honda & Miata applications currently (a couple each).
Heatshield vs IMG: IMG wins hands down. Didn't notice an improvement with the heatshield. The IMG is the first thing I do on all the vehicles I own. I even did a custom one for my truck.
