The dealership buying process is easier unless you're paying cash. Then the street purchase is easier. Most consumers finance, and the banks a fairly strict over what the car's worth etc. Most people have trade-ins (No I don't want your '99 suburban!, just buy my car idiot!) and the dealerships just make sense. Plus if you do your homeowork you can buy them for around the same as private sales with benefits such as buy-back guarantees, certification, etc. Some people are too proud of their stuff, or too upside down - otherwise they'd trade it in.
BTW QUIKAG- you could prob. trade it in for $21K-$21.5K....

Well, find me a killer deal on a used Cayenne S, new-style Denali, RX350 (not 330), or MDX and we can work something out.

Guys, this is for the wife. I will keep her IS300 as a daily and get something a little more interesting as a fun car for the S2k autocrosses, track events, etc.

Trade the IS300 for the new IS-F :450 hp high-revving v8 and an 8-speed sequential transmission. You could be the Luxo-autoxer and give lessons to three people at a time!

This is true-unfortuneately for them (and fortuneately for the dealer), most people don't do their homework. Dealers can often buy really low-affording enough room for a decent profit and and a great price-making it a win-win for buyer and dealer. I bought my pre-owned certified '01 from Bankston for 18,500.00 a long time ago. When it was totaled 3 months later-Geico gave me 23,600.00
