Feeler - 2005 Honda S2000
I got a new job at the first of the year and the commute is approximately 30 miles each way. It's against traffic both ways, but since I leased this car with a 12k mile/year limit, I've put myself in a situation where I will end up going quite a bit over the mileage.
So, I'm going to feel the market for a very clean 2005 Honda silverstone/black S2000.
Specs:
2005 Honda S2000 silverstone/black
22,800 miles
I owe $24,800 on the payoff for the lease, so I am going to offer the car for $22,000.
Car runs and drives incredibly well, zero oil burn, Mobil 1 synthetic oil changes, and relatively new (less than 5k miles) Bridgestone Potenza RE050A's 225 front/255 rear tires. Few rock chips on the front, one is fairly noticeable, but fixable. Other than that, car is in pristine condition.
It's not the end of the world if I get the keep the car, I may just be subject to a significant mileage penalty if I keep it to the end of the lease.
Any thoughts or comments appreciated.

For the time being, I would buy an SUV for the wife and drive her '01 IS300. Later in the year, finances and bonus permitting, I would order an '08 C6 Z51 for the 'fun' car.
I really do enjoy the S2000, but now I am hesitant to take it anywhere but to work and home. It's a good road car, but I'm on the highway 98% of the time now between work and home and honestly, there are better cars out there (like the IS300) for the commute. I bought the S2000 to have fun with it, but that mileage penalty dancing in my head kind of dulls that fun.
Worst case scenario, I drive the S2000 to the end of the lease and pay a couple thousand mile penalty.

What about an inexpensive, good gas mileage car for the commute?
Use the commuter 4 days a week, and the S2000 for Fun Fridays. You could probably justify it, depending on how much of a "mileage penalty" you would expect on the S2000 lease.
I know that I love having my beater Accord. Drive anywhere, park anywhere, haul up to 5 people and a huge trunk full of goodies. 28+mpg mixed driving, too. And it's still got VTAK, y0!

How about $20K now and the rest when I live happily ever after?

Swap in another cluster for a year or so.
To the other posters, having a commuter car is a viable option, but don't you guys hate driving a beater when you have a nice car in the garage? Especially if it's a lease and you like driving it?
I think my only real option is to sell it and eat a few bucks paying off the lease or just drive it and pay a penalty at the end. I'm really not interested in buying another car for a beater. I'm getting to the point where I've realized that life is a bit too short to drive a junker to work, especially when you have a decent commute and that is probably the extent of your driving fun on most days.
I drove beaters/other cars when I had my C5 and I now regret not driving it more and having more fun with it now that it's sold.....
If $23,500 is too much to ask or $25k with the hardtop, I'll probably just keep it. I really don't want to lose more than two grand on the sale.

Don't forget to cross-post in the For Sale forum, if you'd really sell it. Might have a bit better luck there, even if it's not a local buyer.
