Dyno day?
Once I get my car back, it'll have a J'S Racing N1 exhaust and JR filter, and I've heard talk about horsepower gains from each. Well, I'd like to test that out and figured it'd be a nice S2000 club event sometime down the road. I'd be particularly pleased if we got a nice mix of stock cars and modified cars (from light ones like mine to a Comptech SC .)
Would you be interested, your schedule permitting?

Mark, if you want to really find out about actually hp & torque gains, then you better be prepared to bring the stock filter & exhaust...Let me explain. If you don't do back to back dyno runs (ex: dyno w/oem exhaust then remove & install the J's Racing exhaust consecutively) then the data will be meaningless.
Case in point, back when I had a little over 1000 miles, bone stock, I dynoed at 203.x hp. Then a couple of months later, I dynoed at 201.x hp (bone stock still) then we installed an aftermarket dual-exhaust (The company shall remain nameless for now) & I got only 196.x-197.x hp (Can't remember which one exactly). Get it?
My friend's performance shop has a dyno & he's really busy. However, I'd be more then willing to ask him if he'd like to sponsor a dyno day. I'll post info here once I talk to him. He told me, he has seen anywhere from 193 hp (Stock) to 300 hp (Comptech S/C) for an s2k on his dyno.
Can't wait to see your exhaust Mark .

*nod* I've done two dynos, different days, different places. One I got 204hp, the second was about 197. I'd say that between 195 and 205, there's really no change. If it's above or below that, I start to suspect something.
The first dyno was when we first met, remember? So at least the third can be at the same place.
In any case, I'd like to compare my car to other stock ones.

Sure, what the hell. I've never done this before with my S. The last time was in 1979 with my hot rod Pinto . No comments please.
How much does a dyno run cost these days?
Regards,
Al

I am deffinitely game for that. I've been dying to hear the J's exhaust in person. If I like the sound and it puts up some power I'll be sold on it.
I'd also love to see what my car will pull on the dyno.
I vote for it being on Saturday because I work during the week.
