Default Certified Pre-Owned Problem

2002 Honda S2000 - 70k
Certified Pre-owned
David McDavid - Frisco

So the last few weeks i have been having some incredible bogging issues with my car. I've been putting nothing but premium fuel, have the oil changed regularly etc. We'll the hesitation/bogging had gotten so bad my passenger could feel it.

Yesterday I took my car to Danny's Import on 121 in Lewisville, they hooked it up, no codes present. They pulled my spark plugs and noticed someone had put in some cheap arse bosche platinum sparkplugs from autozone and he said that was the cause of the problem. Low and behold, he put in a set of OEM plugs and bam problem solved! Now i am out $100+ for parts/labor.

My question is, shouldnt the stock spark plugs have come with the car since it was certified pre-owed? My car literally almost left me stranded and I'm pissed because David McDavid should have made sure everything was factory on the car correct?

thanks in advance,

kenny

It probably should have come with OEM spark plugs but I doubt they check every little thing like that when they certify it. I know you're pissed but I doubt you'll get anything out of the dealer except maybe some free oil changes or small compensation.

Glad to hear you got it sorted out and Danny's did a good job for you.

I'm not laughing at you, only the thought that popped in my head... I pray the lawn mower it came from was at least one of those racing lawn mowers!

Thanks for all the replies guys. I'm just glad my car is back to its normal working capacity. I'm not going to call them and start giving them hell or anything, i just wanted to vent.

Thanks again for your replies.

Why didn't you take it to David McDavid (or other Honda dealership) and have them look at it since it's a CPO? They would have probably changed the plugs and fixed the problem at their cost.

Well if you're gonna drive a car with a souped up lawn mower engine, you might as well use a lawn mower battery!

Yep, if you didn't give them an opportunity to fix it, then it's your fault.

Ok.

I wasn't going to risk getting stranded and possibly messing up my car even more by driving it around messed up.

Again if you had read my last post, i stated "I'm not going to call and give them hell, i just wanted to vent." I am Not looking to BLAME anyone, just wanted to know if that is something that is NORMALLY looked at in order to give the car the CPO label.

Why is everyone so quick to jump all over things?
Read all posts, then reply.

The car is running fine and everything is back to normal, all I had was a question.
