Well, I've been waiting for my rollbar to get back from the powdercoater for a while...It is a Cusco which is pretty close to the mugen and identical to the safety 21. The Cusco is approved for track use in Japan but not the US due to metric to US size conversion leaves the tube diameter slightly too low for tracking in the states! I can't wait! It is only a 5 point so not a full cage, just the rear and it sits just above the oem rollbars for further protection!

It is more than just tube size. In the US, most sanctioning bodies require a bar from the roll hoop over the drivers head diagonally towards the floor or footing near the passenger side. The JDM designs just do not seem that they will hold up in a crash, but I haven't done any analysis of the bars. The only thing I can say is that Harddog HAS been crash tested and I know it is strong enough to hold up in a roll over.

Heres you "dead weight" safty 21 bar after a 70+ foot fall off the road. It looks like the only part of the car that held up. Notice how none of the bars broke off and hit him in the head, I would say that that works pretty darn good for a "show purpose" roll bar. I know welded bars are better, but you guys really underestimate the cusco/safty21 bars.

WOW!!!!!!!!you are kidding me

woah that does look like S2000GT's car up above. the roll bar held up, but did it actually help this driver from serious harm?
Looking at the pictures, I'd say it did. The stock rollbar (which is the windshield frame) is clearly bent while the rollbar is in good shape. If anything it helped keep his head out from the ground. to the rollbar for that

Hope the guy is ok as well!

That isn't s2000gt's car is it?!?!? I hope the driver was ok.

BTW, nice post... looks like the roll bar held up great , look at the windshield!
Yes it is and I took those pics.

The only thing on that car that wasn't tweaked was the roll bar.
