Valve Adjustment
I'm going to do my valve adjusment today or tomorrow and had a question. For the specs, do I set the valves to the high side or low side of the spectrum? I've heard that I should set them to the low side since they will go towards the highside with use. Is this presumption correct? I've checked destiny2002's thread but was unable to find any info about this. If I don't get advice I'll probably stick to my assumption and check back in 6k miles or so. Thanks.

OK on second thought, wouldn't the valves/retainers wear faster then the cams as the engine wears? If so, wouldn't that decrease the valve clearance? FOCK, now I'm really confused. It makes more sense this way....anyone have any suggestions?

low side
that's what i've heard
not sure if this is the same thing but my mechanic says that when i do my valve adjustment on my engine, it is better to do it on the low side.

on valve jobs. you want to have the most clearance you can possibly get. Reason, first is that when the engine heats up, you will have less tolarance on the valves (meaning that the gap will get smaller). Also, you definately don't want to have your valve's cracked open, which could burn the seats of the valves. So, there you go. Start with the max gap (widest gap) and work from there. Oh, and do your adjustment on a semi cool engine (around 100F/38C), never hot.
