looks like the decision has been made, but while we've got this thread going let me throw in a few more.
Clear Lake-Kemah:
Perry's Steak House or Italian Restaurant
Downtown:
Sorento (tapas), Saba Blue Water Grill, Bistro Lancaster, Rainbow lodge (just west of downtown off Memorial)
Rice University/Montrose:
the Brownstone - Victorian atmosphere, complete with harpist
Galleria:
Cafe Annie, Tony's, Pesce
West side (hwy 6)
The Rotisserie for Beef and Bird
For special occasions, i recommend Chez Nous, Mark's, Brownstone, Rainbow lodge and Cafe Annie in that order. All are highly expensive, be prepared to shell out $200+ for dinner and wine...

Hugos is a new Mexican restaurant on Westheimer at Mandell. You have to make reservations, but it is fantastic. Authentic food from central Mexico, not norte

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. We had a great time in Kemah this past weekend by the way. Food at the aquarium was good but not great. Its a fun place to go though.
