Actually, one of the guys on The Other Website<tm> made a good point. Does Texas have an explicit definition of what constitutes illegal racing? If not, this seems like a purposefully vague law to allow police to revoke the license of anyone they don't particularly like who was speeding...

I think the "excessive acceleration" charge results when you peel out or something, not sure though. Cause if you think about it theres really no way for a cop to say if you accelerated too fast. Consider an older corolla, they accelerate slow, compared to say a viper, which accelerates fast. By barely tapping the gas on the viper, you'd be accelerating faster than the corolla, so theres no way for them to charge you with excessive acceleration, unless you peal out or floor it from the stop.

If you wanna race, just gun it until you reach the speed limit, what are they gonna charge you with, "driving at speed limit?"
