DOOM 3 (PC)

OK...
My system Specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3000+
ASUS MOBO to match
1GB PC3200 (i think) Corsair XMS memory
ATI Radeon 9800XT 256MB
WD 120GB 7200rpm SATA
WinXP Pro (contemplating the win64 switchover)
blah.blah.blah...

I can run the game on ultra high setting at 1280x1024 with some studder.
I can run the game on ultra high setting at 1024-768 with less studder.

I prefer to run it at either 1280x1024 or 1024x768 at high setting, rather than ultra.

For those with lesser video cards, i would suggest medium to high setting at 800x600, but it's really about trying out each setting to see what gives you the best results while still immersing you in the mood and feel of the game.

For those of you that want to play the game, and don't have the system to support it, come by. You can play at my crib. 5 dolla just kiddin, come on by.

As if you didn't already know the game looks incredible and DAAAAAAAAAAARK.
If you have trouble seeing in the dark as I do, this game is scary. Try to turn the brightness up, won't work...as it shoudln't.

The lighting effects are incredible. Few games accomplish this successfully, the only other one coming to mind is the Splinter Cell line.

Don't worry I won't spoil the game:
You start off the game checking in to Mars and get assigned a little task of finding a missing person...you know the snit is about to go down. You are given some armor, a 12-round clip pistol, and a flashlight...that's right, in this game you can only hold a flashlight or a weapon...you won't be able to see when you shoot if it's dark!!! But hey, you can use the flashlight to smack a bitch up...but guess what, b/c you have to swing the light, your light "cone" moves, so you can't actually see when you swing. no guns with lights as far as I've seen...i'm sure this is done for the scary feeling.

So you go lookin for the guy, snit goes down. If you are a highly religious indivdual, you wouldn't be minding this game in the first place I wouldn't think. because if I'm not mistaken the DOOM series deals with something happening to where the gates of hell are opened up, and you are a marine trying to stay alive. Critics and whiners complain that the game is evil, but thing is you are FIGHTING the demons and all that...so aren't you considered fighting for the "Lawd?"

ANYWAYS...there are some distrubing visuals, so be wary of that and because of the realistic graphics it REALLY hits you. For those weak at heart and get startled easily, this game will jack you up. It's SOOO dark, you only see a small circle (that looks SO real) from you flashlight. Not all zombies or creatures are slow. You get hit, your head snaps, and you still have to try and aim to shoot things.

You shoudln't be hurting for ammo. Dustin and I have been playing on the easiest level and there are some points where you can get taken out so it's not an EASY game, but I don't see it as hard, unless you play on the hardest settings.

The mood music really adds to the scary factor. Wanna turn it off? no option to do so (unless there is a switch in the config file). I've typed enough on this, best thing is to just play it.

Defintely one of the strongest FPS PC games in a LONG time.

No Co-op out of the box, but a mod is being developed according to my 'net searches. Now that, my friends, would set this game OFF! of course it wouldn't be *AS* scary with another person, but I'm sure it's still scary.

Imagine, two guys shootin like crazy in the dark with lighting effects...WOW. Or, one player could just flashlight and the other shoots...that would be the smarter way to go, but enemies come from multiple places (not just in front). That would be fun. I accidently caught a spoiler of the end of the game watching a co-op video. I wont spoil it for you but all i can say it GOT DAYUM.

OK OK I'm done for now...good game

10/10
How can you not give it a perfect rating? I have found no faults in the game yet.

Doom 3

My PC Has been neglected for the past few years. It doesn't compete with Tom's, but fear me when I get my new setup soon.

AMD 1700 (1.4ghz)
1 gig Samsung (cas 2) 2700 ram
ATI 9700 PRO
Abit NF7-S mobo
2 20 gig Seagate Barrucuda III (3-4 years OLD)

Doom 3 is the first game hyped that has made me understand the long await and hypeness. This game takes my breath away. The game requires a lot of resources. I wouldn't recommend my system for it. It's very underpowered, but is tolerable.

It's time for me to go purchase the game. Everyone go BUY it, it's very well worth it.

I think we need to make s2000 Doom 3 Clan/Squad/Crew/Team/whatever you want to call it. Multi-player will own!

fear you?

I'm not so sure multiplayer will be all that. Well for me at least, I like more squad-based action. That's why i think Co-op on this game might be fun, but only to a point, since it's so dark you can't see jack.

I do agree that we should all find a game we would all like to play online together. I like RPG's that we could possibly play together. that's crazy fun.

world of warcraft should be a badass mmorpg.

i know quite a few people in the beta and say it's awesome, except for the pvp ... but blizzard is working to try and make that better.

i'm all for things like that, except the monthly fee, if it's not bad (or free) i'm down. I just can't justify a high monthly charge to play a game even though I think of myself as hardcore.

Been playing Doom3 some more...

pretty damn scary game. From research, ATI cards get artifacts with the game. It's due to heat. Not sure if the NVidia cards suffer the same problems. You either keep your vcard real cool, or downclock it. I just play with teh artifacts.

Casino Inc. by Konami is actually pretty addicting. For those that like the tycoon line of games, this is in line with those.

Update again:

Street Racing Syndicate (XBox): Not sure if it's good, b/c as soon as I turned the game on I noticed, no Honda cars...well, that won't be any fun. I turned the XBox, and will be returning the game, hahaha

1/10

Fight Night 2004 (XBox): I'm sure this is offered on all consoles. This game is addictingly fun to me. You have a lot of control over how, where, and when you punch. Slugging it out with a buddy is pretty fun, but the career mode is where you learn you can't just go in swingin, or you'll get clocked.

9.5/10

Baldur's Gate II: Dark Alliance (XBox): Turned the game on, no customization. You choose out of 5 characters, and they are of one race, sex, and character type (rogue, necormancer, etc.). That's no good for me.

1/10

Star Ocean (PS2): Pretty decent RPG. Looks good, combat is real time, but the puzzles or minigames tend to annoy me.

7.5/10

Tiger Woods 2004 (XBox): I don't play golf, but this game is pretty fun. It's a golf game, don't need to get into it too much.

8.5/10

ok, it's been a while, and i've played a shat load of games.

Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War(PC):
First good RTS game in a long time. If you like RTS, give this one a go.
8.7/10

Rome (PC):
Supposed to be awesome, I played a few missions, got bored.
3/10

Def Jam Fight for NY (XBox):
Thought it would suck, Dustin said get it, I did. Played it, it's fun. hahaha You get to customize your guy first, pretty cool (little twist on normal character creation). You get to choose from 5 diff fighting styles. Kickboxing, streetfighting, martial arts, grappling, and wrestling. As you progress you can have a combination of 3 styles. KNockouts are not simply done when your opponent runs out of health, you have to get the health low and perform a KO move. Very fun game. Hard at first, but once you see the pattern of fighting, it's easy.
9.5/10

Got plenty more, but it's time to go home. Will continue later. Hey, it was end of day at work
