J's Gears in Houston
Hey guys and gals,
Do any of you know a good place to:
1.) Purchase a set of J's final gears (4.44 or 4.77) for a great price in the houston area...
2.) Install the gears as well. Some place you would entrust your car to of course.
Thanks,
Tom

Heheh, I JUST read that thread as well. Looks like a GREAT deal. As far as installation goes though, I heard one would probably not want to take it to the dealership. Basically, lack of knowledge and experience working with RWD cars??

Ok, I have contacted two shops here in Houston that do nothing but gears. I got two prices 300 and 250. THe differance in the pricing it that the 300 includes the removal/reinstallation from the car, where the other is just the gear it's self (You remove, and reinstall the diff) You would need to supply all parts with the exception of the shims.
I got a better feeling from the 250 guy, then the 300. The 250 guy consultanted on the install for Wes, but neither of these shops have every done an install. The 300 guy does mainly US made cars, where the 250 does anything from Imports to Rigs.

The S2000 rear end shim set is $172.88...kinda surprising that they will supply that for you.

well, sounds like I might have to go one of those routes. Thanks to some info from Wesmaster, I will probably go 4.44's. I guess I never really asked, but do you think it's a worthwhile (and money) and modification? Any down sides that are just really hard to overlook? THanks,
Tom
