Default Insurance Question

Does comprehensive insurance (minimum require with auto loan) cover wear and tear of the soft top? I just paid off my car and still have the comprehensive coverage, have a tear starting at the usually spot, and wonder if I can claim it against the insurance. Also would it be worth it? with a 1000 deductable, I will get a few hundred out of it if it were approval and quoted at a dealer (but problem do it myself or a local shop). Can they raise my premiums with that claim on my record even though it is not an auto collision? I plan on probably switching to liability on the next policy renewal.

I am not sure if you can do that, BUT i would suggest you keep comprehensive insurance because a lot of s2k theft going around and liability would not cover anything of that nature if I remember correctly.

For a $1000 deductible I do not think it would be worth it anyways. You can get an after market soft top for around $500 and have someone install it for another $500-700, or bring it to tech day and maybe they can help you.

Do you have to file a police report if someone slashes your top for insurance to cover the expenses? I was cut three times almost a year ago and have patches that are holding up for now. Guess I should have got a new one instead of new Works, exhaust, header, and front bumper..LOL
