Default Good weekend Road trip places?

Where is a good place to take a 2 day 1 night road trip? Coming from Sugar Land and want to go somewhere maybe in Texas or even Louisiana? Will need some kind of activities or sight seeing. Don't want to just go to the casino to gamble or stay in a hotel/motel. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Where specifically are you going in Louisiana and Texas?

Big Bend National Park, lots of nice roads on the way there. There's some canyons (forgot name) somewhere near Panhandle, supposedly the 2nd biggest canyon in the US. Austin's a fun town to hang out at with lots of outdoor activities. South Padre is cool to hang out at.

Depends on what you're looking for and looking to do? Hiking? Camping? Hunting? Boating? Bed&Breakfast? Clubbing? Need some help here.

Bed and breakfast sounds good. A mixture of stuff. Sight seeing, easy hiking (not trying to be EXTREME SPORTS, lol). Boating if weather permits. Open to any suggestions really but would really appreciate if you have a suggestion that you provide details (such as specific places or activities).

Mount Benel for easy hiking. Lake Travis for boating. If it was a few months ago, I would have recommended cruising the river up in Austin as well. Downtown Austin, 6th street and surrounding areas have lots of places to eat or go out. Here in Houston, you can go downtown museum district. Natural science museum is pretty cool. As far as night life, try local bars/clubs in the midtown area. Lots to see and do in Texas. If you are willing to go as far as Baton Rouge or New Orleans for Louisiana then I'll make recommendations accordingly.

if you want bed and breakfast, consider hill country places like Fredericksburg. There's lots of wineries out there that you might want to drive to and sample wines. For boating, there's lots of lakes you can go to: Lake Conroe, Lake Houston, Lake Limestone, Lake Travis, Lake Livingston just to name a few. There's a larger one (forgot name) out towards Jasper. There's also Galveston, Corpus, and S.Padre for fishing/boating out in the Gulf of Mexico. I don't know your definition of "easy hiking". There's Huntsville State Park, but the hike is too easy, but more fun if you go horsebackriding. Seriously consider Big Bend National Park. Wonderful roads and lots of hiking at all levels. Mountain hiking is possible too out there. There's also Natural Bridge Caverns near San Marcos if you want to hike down some caves. Some people love the outlet shopping in San Marcos. It's nothing like Woodbury Commons or Cabazon, but it's decent for outlet shopping. San Antonio has tons of stuff to do (Riverwalk).

Do a google search and I'm sure you can find lots more stuff to do all within Texas.

We done San Antonio and i have to go there at least one a year for work so that gets mundane now. We will be going to San Marcos with her parents in a few weeks so that is covered for the month. I will looking into some of the lakes and wineries. Is it too cold for boating and stuff now?? Never really got a chance to do boating stuff.
