Chinese Protestors on 610

On my way home from work I saw a HELL of a lot of people on the side of the street off 610 and San Felipe. I know they were protesting some foreign politician's presense at a hotel down here, but can anybody explain to me what its about?
I was told it had to do with China, but my source is not quite reliable and I'm really curious

Chinese president Jiang Zemin is supposed to speak at the George Bush library in College Station tomorrow and they are expecting several thousand Falun Gong practitioners to be on hand for a protest. I would suspect that it has something to do with this.
