WATCH YOUR DRIVING :(
Well first off I have never really driven in snow/sleet before but anyways.... I live in Copperas Cove which is west of Fort Hood. The weather here has been really crazy, I mean really really crazy! Its been snowing, raining, and freezing temps. Everything was going great this morning except that everyone was doing about 35-40 on the freeway because of the weather. Well we got released early from work today so I decided to take the longer way home on back roads. I was driving 5-10 under so if anything did happen I could slow down quicker. Well I pulled on to clear creek drive and I was almost to the turn off the takes me stright to my house when I felt the back start sliding. I didnt know what to think or do so I left off the gas and hit the brakes...
Well I the shit locked up and I slid off the road, down a ditch missing some trees and ended up in between two smaller trees. I turned off the car and did a quick walk around ... Didnt find any damage except a few scuffs but other then that... I was scared shitless
anyways thats my story for the day... I just got done taking the bumper off and cleaning all the grass... Tomorrow I have to scrub my exhaust and clean the inside of the rear bumper of dirt and grass.. *sigh*
Cliffs: snow, ice, and cold weather conditions... Car slid into a ditch... scared the shit out of myself

Yeah this morning i was going 10 mph in 2nd gear coasint down stone oak parkway...the back started to kick out. S2k isnt that great for daily driving in this weather....i almost left mine at work overnight and was gonna get a ride home. I used to go to clear creek elementry school..from what i remember there are alot of creeks and bridges in that area. Just be REALLY careful and watch for tanks sliding across the road.
Im glad i dont live on that base anymore

Otherguy,
As others have said I am sorry your S went off the road, but it could have been much worse.
In the future, when you hit ice do not give it gas or break... any sudden change will cause you to lose control. Just coast through it without jerking the steering wheel, applying gas, or braking, and you should be fine.

Thanks for the advice everyone. a few days ago me and some other people including one of my mp friends went out to a big open parking lot and he gave me a few tips about driving in bad weather. My mp friend showed me how they practice driving in the impala police cruisers
