Sad Day - Some Jerk got to my car
Some genius decided that he wanted to try to break into my S last night. Only he was too stupid to pull it off. He just left a 7 - 9 inch gaping hole in my softtop behind the drivers side seat. I'm assuming he was cutting there to put his arm through and pop the locks (which are no where near that area). Anyway the long and short of it is he didn't get anything and I'm going to have a $2000 dollar repair bill (insurance will foot that).
I supposedly live on a "good" side of town (Shavano Area) but after looking at the stats the NW side of SA has just as much property crime as any other side of town.
I can't stand people who either hate it when someone has something they don't or feel like they can take what others have worked so hard for. The person is lucky I didn't catch them in the act or they would have been in pain and in jail.
Sidenote...I wonder if the insurance company would just let me spend the money on a hardtop?

*sigh* Unfortunately, the thieves don't go to the ghetto to steal nice stuff... Our Integra was broken into just two weeks after we moved into our house three years ago off of Gold Canyon & 1604. They did enough damage to the '94 model car that the insurance company wrote it off. I bought the salvage back and put the car back together, but it still sucks. I felt pretty violated for a long time after that.
I just wish I had caught them in the act and had my 9mm handy... They wouldn't have lived through it.

It makes you feel violated and then pissed. I'm hoping they give me a check, I can find a nice used hardtop (save some $$$) and install it. That may lead to a softtop removal for weight reduction.

Sounds like a good plan....
I don't see why the insurance company wouldn't just cut you a check for the damages. If you go to your adjuster instead of to a body shop, they should do it on the spot.

That sucks ... those kind of things concern me as well. That's why I insisted on a garage in the apartment I am in now until my house gets built. I thought tops were priced a little more competitively. I recall reading something in the $750 range not counting labor to install it.

Anyone know of any good shops to get the top replaced?
