S2k launching
Well i just got my s2k a month ago and just joined the forum so i wanted to get some advice. I wan2 take my s2k to the drag strip and a couple of my friends with s2ks told me not to launch with the car too much cuz the rear axle is not very strong, so i wanted to get everyone elses opinion before i try to take it to the track. All your comments will really help me figure out whether i should do it or not. Thanks ahead of time.

to be honest yes they are kinda weak but its not like its going to brake right away i have draged my car about 5 times and i have never launched past 6500 and i got a 14.4 at 99.8 mph. my suggestion is that you drag the car a couple of times and thats its. the s2k is not a drag car its made for handleing. if you want to get to know your car and use it to its max you need to Autocross it! you will love it. the next one is in march 15 DO IT!

FWIW the diff housing isn't really made to withstand the shock load of repeated high RPM launches. This isn't to say the drive line is weak because it performs very well under the design parameters. The limited slip Torsen internals are nearly identical to those used in a Miata. Can't speak from experience about the axles but the older models had a few issues with the axle nuts backing off and had to be re-torqued to higher specs. Some owners have installed additional diff reinforcement and even had the housing cryogenically treated for additional strength.
My early 2000 model diff failed without launching because the housing tolerances were loose enough that the pinion gear experienced accelerated wear. The dealer attempted to replace the gears but the problem remained. Eventually American Honda intervened and paid for the dealer to install an all new replacement. No problems with the new diff since 2001.
I know a few S2000 owners that used to run at Texas Motorplex in Ennis. Some of them also owned a muscle car or two. They would tell you the S is kind of disappointing at the strip. Despite their experience it was tricky to find the line between bogging and spinning excessively at launch. Not easy to get the S2000 to hook up. They did share one tip to save the diff however. Although they ran lightened flywheels and stiffer plates they used OEM clutch disks to allow some slip to lessen the shock on the rear end.
Personally I think the strip is the wrong kind of track for the S. I'd rather lessen the wear and tear and stick to an AutoX or road course track.

Yeah that really helps i just wanted to test it out at the strip but dont plan on makin it a dragster or keep takin it to the drag strip, i would really like to try my hand at the autox cause i have never done anything like that and it sounds like alot of fun. I was plannin on droppin the car what do you all think use springs since the car is a daily driver or get some track racin coilovers?

Not trying to be a smart a$$, but I think you mean "differential" not "diffuser". As others have stated it can be launched. However there are numerous threads about diff failures and I would not recommend launching the S on a regular basis.
