Default Need feedback from homeowners about water conservation

First, thanks for taking the time to read!
I'm doing market research for a school project about rain water collection. I need to ask homeowners about their attitudes regarding rain water collection.

Any data collected is appreciated! I know some info may be sensitive and I understand if you omit responses.

Demographic questions:

What city and state do you live in?
Do you own a home?
Age:
Sex:

Income range: 0-30k, 30k-60k, 60-100k, Above 100k

Prompts:
How concerned are you with collecting rainwater for future use?

Have you heard about rain water collection systems?

How interested are you in purchasing a rain water capture system for your home?

If you own a rain water collector what things do you like about it? Dislike? What things would you change?

If you don't own a rain water collection system, how do you think one can benefit you?

/End of prompt

Thank you so much for your time! Your responses are valuable and appreciated.

Any other feedback about attitudes regarding rain water collection and conservation is appreciated too! And if you really don't give a hoot about it, I'd like to hear why, it's very valuable insight.

What city and state do you live in?
San Antonio, TX

Do you own a home?
Yes

Age:
28

Sex:
Male

Income range: 0-30k, 30k-60k, 60-100k, Above 100k
60k-100k

How concerned are you with collecting rainwater for future use?
Not very.

Have you heard about rain water collection systems?
Yes.

How interested are you in purchasing a rain water capture system for your home?
Not very at this point in time.

If you own a rain water collector what things do you like about it? Dislike? What things would you change?
N/A

If you don't own a rain water collection system, how do you think one can benefit you?
I'd imagine that the rain collection would benefit an irrigation system, for gardening and food production, which I do plan on starting soon. Also filtered rain water in a home use would significantly lower cost if not eliminate them completely.

Demographic questions:

What city and state do you live in? Austin TX
Do you own a home? YES

How concerned are you with collecting rainwater for future use?
Not concerned at the moment... Compared to NM this place floods!

Have you heard about rain water collection systems?
Ive seen barrels buried with filter paper and barrels set to collect rain water off of homes.

How interested are you in purchasing a rain water capture system for your home?
I am not shopping for anything, but if I was approached and the price is right, I would consider it.

If you own a rain water collector what things do you like about it? Dislike? What things would you change?
N/A

If you don't own a rain water collection system, how do you think one can benefit you?
I could use the water to irrigate my trees.

Question: If I were to use barrels as a cost effective solution, how would you keep mosquitos from breeding in the water?

From my understanding of rain barrels there is a filter that you wold use. It filters debris from the gutters and keeps insects out. Although I can't say for certain how effective the filters are at keeping mosquitoes out since I haven't had first hand experience with rain barrels myself.

Demographic questions:

What city and state do you live in? Schertz, TX
Do you own a home? Yes
Age: 50+
Sex: Female

How concerned are you with collecting rainwater for future use?
Somewhat concerned, though I'm not a conservationist. I do believe in finding better and more efficient ways of doing things in general.

Have you heard about rain water collection systems?
Yes

How interested are you in purchasing a rain water capture system for your home?
Not for my existing home.

If you own a rain water collector what things do you like about it? Dislike? What things would you change?
N/A

If you don't own a rain water collection system, how do you think one can benefit you?
I think it would be an asset for gardening and, if large enough, washing cars and other outdoor activities. On a larger scale, such as on land with a home and multiple outbuildings, it would complement or possibly replace a water well.

Good luck with your project.

What city and state do you live in? San Marcos TX
Do you own a home? No, I live with my older brother, who owns our home.
Age: 22
Sex: Male

Income range: 0-30k

Prompts:
How concerned are you with collecting rainwater for future use? Concerned, or at least far more concerned than most people.

Have you heard about rain water collection systems? Yes, I just graduated from Texas State San Marcos with a degree in water resources. i've written 10 page papers about them.

How interested are you in purchasing a rain water capture system for your home? I have two 55 gallon barrel connected to gutter down spouts to capture some for gardening and other outdoor uses.

If you own a rain water collector what things do you like about it? Dislike? What things would you change? what i dislike about my current system is its small capacity and that it's flow rate is limited to gravity feeding (ie wont power a sprinkler). I was in the process of creating a subterrean cistern out of a relic septic system i found in my back yard. however the project was a bit more complicated than i anticipated and i don't have a lot of money to sink into gardening things (with out a job).

If you don't own a rain water collection system, how do you think one can benefit you? n/a

good luck
