Even with a good plug in them, I still wouldn't take them to any high-speed open track events.

I'm quite sure a tire with a plug is NOT as good as new. I don't think that process would pass any of the tests that tires are subjected to under a ratings evaluation. I'd either keep it cool till the tire wears out or get a new one, especially if you don't KNOW HOW they fixed it!

Whatever you do, just be safe and think about this tire being on there (in its condition) the next time you are tempted to take it to 100mph around other traffic. Please! It could be MY family you are passing when the plug decides to let loose. Not that 100mph around traffic is ever a good idea, but I think this tire increases the statistical probability of trouble.

A repaired tire is, indeed, not as good as new; however, as long as you're driving responsibly, it should be fine. Note that responsible doesn't include any hill country drives or any of that high speed sort of nonsense, though I know it's been done.

Talk to Schatten about this; he worked at a tire place in years past and knows the ins and outs of tire repairs.
