Default I know this is a bit early to inquire, but just wondering

if any of you guys/gals (Sondra!) are planning on going to the TWS Motorsports Club event in August, first weekend. They are also doing on the first weekend in Sept.

While not a John Eagle event, with a distinctly Honda-centric crowd, it's a lot of fun. More diverse group of cars with no particular make/model dominant, great instructors, a bit looser run, and less crowded. No BBQ though.

It's pretty cool being out there with everything from Miatas, to spec racers, to Vipers.

Maybe me an Zoran can have a rematch, and y'all would like the few M3 guys that typically go to this event. I think cdelena and the guy from Houston in the silver S2k (Dave I think) are regulars of these events.

Just thought I'd pass it along. More track time =

typically $275 for a weekend. but budget $500 - which will be the best $500 you will spend on you and the car. I say $500 for two nights of hotel, gas there, gas back and two days of gas for the track, food, and that's only factoring in a few dollars of wear on tires/pads.

Did somebody say track time?

I'll be there if I'm in town for the weekend. Those dates hit really close to when I may be coming back from a visit with the family in Hawaii, so we will see.

I also noticed that The Drivers Edge is having an event at Motorsport Ranch on Sept 7-8. A more low speed, but technical track. Could be fun, and would like to try something different too.

I can't decide which one I like better:

TWS
higher speeds
less wear on tires
closer to Austin

MSR
more challenging...IMO, you'll learn more here
lots of runoff everywhere, nothing to hit
much nicer facilities
can see the whole track, better for spectating
quieter (b/c you don't have much for sound to reflect off like the front straight @ TWS)

Both tracks are lots of fun....variety is the spice of life!

MSR - short and boring. Not much for high speed... I think most people claim to like it because it's new to them...

But, variety is the spice of life. If we relaly wanted to do somehting cool, we'd go down to Corpus for one of the rare events when they open up the whole length of it.

I am definately in for MSR in September. Never done it so it will be different. I am still debating the August TWS event. Missed JE so I am really wanting to go, but have you been on that track in August? It will be at least in the 100's for air temp, and the track will melt SO2's!

Yeah, my first event there was in the heat of the summer. . . mid July. It was damn hot. Car and driver did fine though, just drank lot 'o water.

But, I fear that the late August/early Sept. event won't be any better. After it hits a buck-ten on the track, it's just freaking brutally hot.

Jeff F., any comments on mid summer track events, or do you instructors even stay away from those?
