Your first oil change (when done at the right time) will yield a difference in your fuel economy.
Mine has 47k miles and I get a combined 24 mpg. I do a decent mix of city and highway, and I'm one that likes to hit the high cam on a daily basis...but in a relatively conservative manner. I save the harder pushing on the engine for the little group drives or for the little stint down Lime Creek.

If you do 100% highway driving, you should see around 26-28mpg pretty consistently. I've seen a highest of 29mpg on one tank before...
If you do mixed city/highway and drive agressively, count on about 20-24mpg...depending on how you drive.
Worst I've ever gotten was 8mpg on one tank. :-)
Taking it easy on the highway, I can easily get the EPA's rating for these cars, if not a little above it.
The cost of fuel in these cars is insignificant compared to the cost of tires.
If you factor in the cost of tires AND the gas mileage and the requirement for premium, the actual cost per mile to drive the S2000 is more than my V8 4Runner. I've done the math before.
Owning an S2000 is like owning an airplane. They're relatively cheap to purchase; being able to afford to keep one going is another story (although they are NOT high maintenance vehicles, they ARE a lot more expensive than your average Civic).

Shyeah, they've gone up so much in the last couple of years...
8k miles for a set of rears at about $400 for two rears these days...
12k miles for a set of fronts at about the same price....
Let's see... I've put 18k miles on my 4Runner in the last 12 months....That would have been 2.25 sets of rear tires and 1.5 front sets, or $1500 in rubber in one year....
I'm still driving on the same set of tires that were on my 4Runner when I bought it and they have well over half tread still left :-)
I get 17-21mpg on regular fuel (depending if I do all city driving or all highway driving), as opposed to 22mpg on premium (that's what I got consistently when I used the S2k as a daily driver several years ago).
Who ever thought driving a V8 SUV would seem like a more 'econonomical' vehicle than a little 2-seater sports car???
