Default Fit

I drive about 18,000 miles a year for my job, and thats not including my own miles i put on my car. Thats a crapload of miles guys.

I get paid 45cents per mile, and i take home after taxes about 30k a year. I live at home ,and will for the next 2 years while i finish my bach's degree in business management. This is a scenario that i want to present, and see what your ideas are.

I have a 99' ford escort with 132k miles, steering pinion needs to be replaced, has fresh tires, doesnt burn any oil, oil changed on time, and a/c works fine. PAID OFF

Should i keep the escort, and put in a little money? And then buy a used s2k OR

Should i sell the 99 escort, and just have a honda fit as my daily driver and only car, i dont care what anyone says, its not fast, but the little guy is so smooth imo i would get it in stick of course, and i wouldnt do mods for speed, but looks and creature comforts.

I dont want to tie all my money up in a sportscar, when i potentially in the future may have to move out, and i dont want to put miles on my sportscar, what would you do?

I need your input guys, please tell me what ya think

The Fit is a nice little runabout with great utility, but if you're thinking about getting one, you just might want to read up a little bit on the huge improvements they're making to the 2009 models that are coming out for the 2nd generation car. It would be very much worthwhile to wait until those come out if you're thinking of buying a new Fit.

Financial decisions like this are of course never easy, especially when you're looking at a multi-thousand dollar commitment. Put pencil to paper and figure out what your budget constraints are, what your costs will be to have and maintain two cars, etc... I'd personally consider saving up a little, paying cash for a newer and lower mileage car to daily drive (buy used), then get the sports car you want.

How much is your gsr going for? I know you mentioned selling it, how many miles? That would be a badass daily.

Its stick, its jap, and its been maint by you, which is a plus, i know you take care of your vehicles.

i have a Fit as a daily and love it. It's actually big enough to hall around "big" items while having a cool and small car. I got the sports package w/ tiptronic.

David,

We're probably about 2 years away from being ready to sell our GS-R... Once I can pick up a used IS350 for around $20-23k with navigation and low miles, I will be ready to unload the GS-R. Until that point, we're going to just keep driving it. It does have really low miles. 113k on a '94 GS-R. It needs a good detailing, but overall is in great condition for being a 14 year-old car.
