Hmmm - I haven't decided yet; I don't want to interfere with the old timers on the 24th; can someone post information about that drive or PM it to me?
The 9th is definately out; the weather forecast has some rain and its just too soon. the 23rd will be the date.

Don't worry about interfering w/ us...just trying to bring y'all into the fold so we can consolidate our efforts and bring some new blood into the group. We'd love for y'all to join us on the 24th (can't send any info, b/c the date is the only thing decided so far), and would go on the 23rd except that I have a Hill Country group motorcycle ride that day.

This community is styled as Central Texas. But, what area is that supposed to cover? You've two big cities, SA and Austin which are really very different from each other, in size, in economic makeup, in cultural makeup, etc. Why try so hard to make them one? Not to mention, there is at least a two maybe even three hour drive to get to events if you try to combine everybody from both cities.
An idea could be--each city have it's own events, and then from time to time, with plenty of advance notice, do an event for everyone in Central Texas. Then, don't be offended if there is not enough notice for an event in SA or in Austin. Or, give plenty of notice, then, if you happen to be passing through either city, make it to that function.
Also, on another note, there are more owners who might participate if they could find a subgroup within this big group where they might fit in better. There's nothing wrong with that.

Wouldn't a "discussion" about splitting the Central Texas Forum be better in it's own thread before this thread about a group drive on the 23rd gets totally hijacked?!?

MY BADDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Unfortunately the 23rd no longer works out for me, but you guys can go ahead and do a drive still if you like - perhaps Steve will take ownership over this and start a new thread???

I posted a response in the other thread as well... I don't believe there is a large enough traffic 'problem' to necessitate splitting "Central Texas" into Austin or San Antonio. And besides, if you split it into Austin/San Antonio, where are the people from Canyon Lake, New Braunfels, San Marcos, etc, going to fit in? There just isn't enough traffic in the Central Texas forums to have it split into two -- it's just two places somebody has to read posts if they are interested in mingling with both groups.
But then again, most of the original Austin folks have tried everything in their power to create their own 'elitist group' to exclude all others -- which is why only a select couple of you still post here.
Also, as the "Community Organizer" for the Central Texas forums, I feel it is part of my responsibility to try to keep and/or bring the two groups together, not split them apart.
