Ok since I got my S2K almost 2 months ago, my insurance went from $150/mo to $306/mo - doubling when the S2K was added to the policy. That being said I didn't remove anything from the policy (yet...lease up in July on another car), however a doubling of insurance seems high to me. I have a clean record over 25, married (26yo M). What do you guys pay? Can you recommend someone who provides good rates in austin? My policy is

100/300/100

500 deductible all cars

Any suggestions or reassurances that this is normal would be appreciated - I expected it to go up, but I only thought it'd be $75-100 dollars.

are you military? if you are try USAA insurance they have pretty good rates. I pay 150 a month and im only 21 w/ a clean record w/ 50/100/50 liab and comp/coll i have 200/500 deds. The # to find out if you are elig is 800-531-8080.

i called progessive and geico and they wanted 833 a month for my s2k being 21 w/ a clean driving record so USAA had the best rates.

I pay $2000 every 6 months for full coverage on my S2000, a '94 GS-R, and my '91 CRX. I have liability-only on the '88 CRX that is the race car and hardly ever gets driven.

I had one mishap last December and a comprehensive claim (total loss) last month. I had just renewed right before the comprehensive claim and the December accident didn't do anything to my rates at all.

I am 23 years old, and average about one ticket per year (usually they are either out of state, or I take defensive driving to get rid of it).... Since I haven't had a ticket in a while *knock on wood*, I am eligible to take defensive driving for an insurance discount.

I am w/ All State, and have 100/300/100 full coverage, w/ $500 collision and $250 comp. deductible. I pay about $125/month, and I am 26 single male (clean record).

I think I pay about average rates. I used to pay about $110/mo. then the rates just increased overall in Austin (thanks to the high accident rate in this small town), and I had an accident when I first got the car, which didnt affect me until a year and a half later (sorry to say Ricky, you will see a hit to your insurance, they dont forget).

I've been w/ State Farm, and have had low rates with them as well. Shop around until you get the best prices. Also tell them you have an alarm, and a clean driving record (that should be a discount as well), and put your house/renters insurance on your policy which shoud get you a slight discount. Good luck.

State farm
Full coverage on a 99 Miata and 00 S2000 for two drivers
$500 deductible
$650 every 6 months

27, Single

I took advantage of every discount offer they had over the years:
Good grades = 10%
Def Diving = 10%
Adding on home owners ins = alot%
etc.

Plus, every year I'm with them it drops 5-10% just for staying with them. I don't know if all ins companies do this but its something to look into when shopping around.

State Farm
100/300
1000 deductible

$ 435 for 6 months which is $72.50 per month

Wife's 2002 AWD Escalade coverage has identical premium cost.

No tickets or wrecks, lots of discounts except good grades and def driving.

I found Farmer's to be the cheapest. Not sure where you live, but the office on Brodie has awsome ppl there. Their service has been great (friendly) but they do mess stuff up on occasion if you confuse them. Overall they've done everything I've asked and had a great attitude.

wow you must be a bad driver

move the deductible to 1000!

you'll make the money back if you dont wreck in a year. my insurance for my s2000 is around 3k a year in sc, but usaa said it'd drop to 2250 in austin(78705 zip) a year.
