Yes I got to test drive my S2000 twice before I bought it. I got mine from Terry Davison Auto Imports in Cedar Park and they are very cool about letting people test drive the cars if they are serious about buying them. They also had the best deal in the state on their S2000's. I highly recommend them except they don't have any S2000's right now.

I bought my car sight unseen. Never drove one before I drove mine home.
I know what you mean about 1st gear. It's usually like this when it's just after a cold start and before you've warmed anything up. It's a little tough to get into first on the roll. You can't "ram" it in. You just have to apply firm, steady pressure and it'll go in. Also, if you double clutch, it'll go in no problems. Once the car warms up, it goes in smooth. Usually if I'm not planning to take off right away, like at a stop light or stop sign. I'll wait till I've come to a stop before putting it into 1st.

Jacob,
WRX has the same first gear issue. I think it's protection of the engine so you don't over-rev it when downshifting into first. If you double clutch (already stated) it will pop in just fine! Btw, learn how to double clutch, you will save your synchro's and become a far better "in town" stick driver! Plus, when you're running the twisties with the boyz, you'll downshift a lot faster to get more SPEED in the turns.
Btw, when is the next S2K run?

I took two different S2000's out for a test drive before mine arrived. I didn't want a car off of the show room floor, so I waited for almost six weeks to get a new red one. I also test drove mine before I signed the papers, just in case.
